AfroCuban Jazz Reimagined
Nova Concerts presented Afrocuban Jazz Reimagined, a new constellation where Afro-Cuban rhythm carried contemporary jazz forward.
Why reimagine Afro-Cuban Jazz? Because genres evolved when voices from different worlds met. This project brought together distinct musical identities to explore how tradition could move forward without losing its pulse.
For the first time, four acclaimed artists united on stage: saxophonist Ariel Bringuez, percussionist Eliel Lazo, bassist Yasser Pino, and pianist-vocalist Claudia Campagnol. Bringuez's forward-thinking saxophone language, Lazo's deeply rooted Afro-Cuban percussion, Pino's refined and expressive bass lines, and Campagnol's European jazz sensibility with an RnB edge converged to reshape the genre and create a fresh musical dialogue.
Introducing Ariel Bringuez to Copenhagen
Ariel Bringuez is a Cuban saxophonist with two Latin Grammy Awards for his collaborations with Chucho Valdés (Tribute to Irakere) and Ivan Melon Lewis (Voyager), as well as a Grammy Award for his work with Alejandro Sanz. He also received a Latin Grammy nomination for his own album Alma en Cuba.
Known for his innovative blend of Cuban tradition and modern jazz, Bringuez brought his sound to Copenhagen for the first time. This debut marked a milestone for Nova Concerts.
This concert was a true jazz party. As winter faded, this event became the first ray of warmth welcoming spring. We delivered a night where music once again took the lead into new sonic territories. Guests stepped out of the cold and into a warm, vibrant Nova atmosphere where the past and future of Afro-Cuban Jazz met in celebration. It was a night of energy, warmth, and pure musical joy.
This was a concert no one wanted to miss!

Ariel Bringuez
On March 6th, at Musikcafeen, we had the privilege of presenting an extraordinary meeting of talents. Ariel Brínguez, Yasser Pino, Eliel Lazo, and Claudia Campagnol shared the stage in a concert that felt less like a performance and more like a conversation. Cuban saxophonist Ariel Brínguez brought the full weight of his artistry to our audiences, making a one-of-a-kind Nova Concert experience.

The concert
Playing each other’s compositions, this constellation of musicians gave new life to every piece — each interpretation becoming at once deeply personal and beautifully collective. The audience listened, leaned in, and never let go. As someone in the room put it: “fue un concierto excepcional con músicos excepcionales” — an exceptional concert with exceptional musicians.
Nights like this one are why we do what we do. Thank you to Ariel, Yasser, Eliel, and Claudia for bringing something so rare to our stage, and to every single person who was there to receive it. We hope to see you at the next one.
