Uma Kabongo
Nova Concerts presented Uma Kabongo, a Copenhagen-born artist with Congolese roots whose music moved between jazz, soul and R&B with ease and a distinctly contemporary touch. Joined by her five-piece band, she brought that sound to the stage with pulse and a stage presence that was unmistakably her own.
In 2024, she released her debut single Intentions Change — a title that already points to the emotional core of her work. The song reached 60,000 streams worldwide, while introducing an artist able to hold reflection, vulnerability and quiet confidence in the same breath. There is melancholy in her music, but also an undercurrent of hope that keeps it open.
Introducing a new voice to Nova audiences
On stage, Uma Kabongo created a space where intimacy and movement coexisted. Her voice settled into the songs with softness, while the music built gradually until the whole room was inside it. With this wonderful evening featuring Uma Kabongo and her band, Nova Concerts fulfilled one of its central missions: to give space to music born in Copenhagen, created by local artists with the talent and artistic voice to travel far beyond it. Uma is exactly that kind of artist.
